The start of something big…
Today I kicked off a 365 project…a picture every day for a whole year. I’ve started a new blog to hold the photos from the project. Please check it out at http://b3m6c5.blogspot.com/
Happy New Year!!
Molly at EWR
We got to the airport 2 hours before our flight on Monday in case security was crazy…but the airport was pretty empty and Molly and I spent about an hour walking the terminal and taking pics. This is my favorite…all natrual light from the horizontal strip of windows camera right. We moved around to get the light just right…
Molly and Me and a new musllin.-7
Molly and Me and a new musllin.-7, originally uploaded by BMCportraits.
Molly and I were playing in the studio the other day to try out a new background stand and muslin backdrop. We set up the lighting and took turns taking pictures of each other. We’ve put together a short slideshow of images from the session which you can see at www.flickr.com/photos/bmcphoto/sets/72157622920494501/show/
Self Portrait Fun- Made it to Lighting Essentials Blog
Honored to have another of my photos chosen as best of the pool from the Lighting Essentials Flickr pool and posted on the Lighting Essentials Blog. Wizwow, who runs the blog, is an e-mentor of mine and (to toot my own horn) it’s means a lot to me to earn a spot on his blog. You can see this photo and the others chosen for the post at http://www.lighting-essentials.com/42-wonderful-images-from-the-le-flickr-forum/
Mika and Daugther
This is from a recent holiday card session with Mika and her family. We had fun and got a nice family portrait and some nice candids. This is MY favorite from the shoot.
Student Volunteers at Help Portrait
I took part in Help Portrait, a national event to provide professionally made portraits to families who might not otherwise be able to afford such services. You can learn more about the event at www.helpportrait.com
The organization has asked that we not post photographs of the families who had their portraits made at the event to respect their privacy. But I wanted to bring the event (which will be an annual thing) to people’s attention and to share some reportage shots from the event.
These are photo students at Hillside High School (which hosted the event here in Durham) who volunteered to help out the photograpers and client families on the day of the event.
New Lights are Fun
I’ve just upgraded my lighting equipment and was playing around with the new lights (Alien Bees) to get used to them for an event I am participating in on Sautrday (Help Portrait) to provide free portraits to families who not otherwise be able to afford professional photography. It’s a national event with photographers all across the country donating their time. You can learn more about it at www.helpportrait.com
One last one from Thansgiving
This is Molly on Thanksgiving day.
Isaac on Thanksgiving
Isaac is now 10 weeks old. He’s starting to develop a personality and become a little person. Pretty soon, we can really start to take some pictures. I know a lot of photographers do wonders taking photos of newborns…but not me. I’m learning…but the fun for me will start when he can sit up….still a few months to go til then.
Yours Truly
Still working on my self portrait project. Sunday, armed with a new Norman pack and head lighting setup I grabbed my hat and trenchcoat and played around int he studio for a bit. Got a handful I like including this simple portrait.
